It was very dark when we all got on the trucks for this morning's game drive. The sunrise was stunning, "I've seen so many sunrises and sunsets on this trip!" We first saw six lionesses lying by the road. They got up to greet each other and walk around, yawning a lot before wandering off. "We saw quite a bit today, nothing "amazing", look I'm jaded already, after writing in my journal about lions I say the game drive wasn't amazing." The trucks drove around a clearing checking for lions before stopping for breakfast.
We saw a herd of elephant and they had a tiny baby with them! The mother flapped her ears at us and the group kept the baby in the centre of their group. It was neat to watch their displays of protection. We saw warthogs, zebra, crocodiles and more lions. “An interesting thing we witnessed was a male impala herding his harem of about 100 females into a tight group. Any that strayed he gathered back up. He moved his harem away from the road when we approached. It was neat!” 10 years ago today I marveled at the life in the Masai Mara.
