Today we went on the best game drive in the world!! I went crazy with my picture taking (who me?!) and took almost 5 rolls of film. It was amazing. "There was a group of Thompson's Gazelle and there were two males fighting. They shake their tales fast and lock horns. They're so tiny in size, it was neat." I was thrilled to see my first lion pride. Three females were laying together grooming each other and another three were laying under their own bushes. There were a few tense moments when we thought we'd get stuck in the mud again, but we didn't. "Here's the best part, I don't even know where to start. Our trucks saw a bunch of other tourist trucks around something so we went over - oh wow - it was a family of lions, a male, couple of females and 4-5 cubs from 2 litters. We watched the cubs playing and running around, the mom was following and making a noise. It was amazing. The male was by a kill, it was a ZEBRA! It was eating it! We stayed for quite a while, the lion was licking the carcass and pulled at it. We could hear him crunching the bones. It was an incredibly amazing display of the circle of life. We went over to a herd of elephants conveniently near the lion kill. How perfect can the day be? It was a family of 3 adults, 2 juveniles and 1 teeny tiny baby elephant. We watched them walk by eating leaves. I stared and stared, it was so amazing. I was in complete awe." 10 years ago today I was LIVING The Lion King!
