Packing My Stuff

Last Group Shot

   This morning we were all sorting and organizing our souvenirs and bags. We left a big pile of things we were donating like clothes and shower products. "I used a tent box to pack as a second piece of luggage, it was good to have and everything fit really well!" We had a quick last minute trip to Karen to spend the last of our shillings. "After tearful goodbyes we got on the trucks and went to the airport. The whole way Kasoi made his animal noises and told stories. At the end he said something like "Okay guys, thank you, welcome to Kenya, safe journey" It reminded me of Elvis saying "Thank you, thank you very much." It was surreal to be at the airport leaving Kenya." I was sad but in a sort of state of shock that it was all over. We boarded the plane at 7pm and after something like 30 hours of flight transfers, flight cancellations and panic; I made it home to Canada. 10 years ago today I left Kenya on a jet plane. Kwa heri.
