Loving My New Community

I’m in Seychelles and…
  • Cooking a “fancy” dinner party for 25 volunteers and 11 staff members is really hard!

  • GVI = Get Very Intoxicated

This week we’ve been flying through surveys with double tank dives nearly every day. We all agree that Conception and Therese are sites worth diving again. If you’re ever in Seychelles, take note!

Community work on Port Launay beach continued with a new class from ISS (International School of Seychelles). Thomas and Ryan gave a really unique lesson on pollution by hiding bits of garbage on the beach for their group of kids to collect – however the kids found ten times the amount hidden, Well done guys!

The title “Whale Shark Wednesday” has held up again this week. The plankton tow group was joined by Katie from MCSS who was testing out her probe. During the explanation of the equipment a whaleshark swam up to the boat to investigate! Everyone hopped in and had a good snorkel with it. Lucky!! I was not with that group unfortunately.

On Thursday night I was on kitchen duty with Thomas, Tom and Gemma and we decided to really surprised the camp with an impromptu dinner party. Candles were lit, music was specially selected and dinner was served at the tables (rather than buffet style). It was really special and such a nice break from routine!
