I wrote in my journal "Flying into Ethiopia there were sparkling blue and orange lights of the city. There were major roadways too! Not what I would have thought." We landed at midnight (local time) about 6.5 hours after taking off. I calculated that it was 4pm in Toronto and still Saturday. I wondered what my mom and dad were doing at that time. We had a 3 hour layover at this airport and then a seemingly short flight to Kenya. I recorded that my total travel time since leaving Toronto was 37 hours. I wrote in my journal "when we got off the plane, we had to walk across the airport runway (we got off the plan on a small outdoor staircase) - my first steps on African ground!"
